Bailco,

Regarding your petrol station was it the one that was opposite The James house and you had a sort of mini supermarket next door.I think there was a road at the back ,Chichley Street I think ?

Wasn't there also a driving school based there? A chap from Chichley way if I remember correctly, prominent chin and black hair had a good reputation as well for being a top class driving instructor.

Lancaster lived next to the pub there, again forgotten the pubs name.Basil Rose lived near by and by golly his daughter was a wild thing in here time too along with her mate Susan Keech. Susan had a bit of a thing for me at the time bit too wild for me she was.

My Petrol Station was in Tickford Street opposite what was then Ranx Xerox, the petrol station is no longer, now Astonlee Vets & the Ranx Xerox Building is a Training Place for Prudential Employees.

I knew Basil Rose quite well but Mrs.Rose could chat for hours given half the chance, Basil passed away, he often bought in his Rolls Royce to fill up, His Son was a Builder. I knew the Clarke Family down that road which if memory serves me right was St.Margarets Close? I had a crush on a Gal in that Street first name Helen?

I remember the Driving Instructor you spoke of, seemed to have a good pass rate if I believed what I was being told!!

Now a poser. Maurice may well be able to answer,Bailco I think not, Richard perhaps  .

Can anyone remember W.P.C. Kemp (Olive Kemp) ? She was policewoman in Newport Pagnell and if my memory is correct lived in the terrace house opposite W.J. Coopers Linford Wharf depot.

Olive was a feared character 8) myth or reality I know not. I had but one encounter with her vis a vis a car road fund check plus insurance :| , all was correct I hasten to add  .However she scared me with her manner and body language  , bloody good old fashioned copper though nothing adrift on her watch  .

What a character the original result would have been Dragon 1 St George 0 if Olive had been involved in the matter !! :D

So any recollections I ask ?

That was Paul indeed his wife or ex wife at that time was stunning indeed, two beautiful daughters as well,I seem to remember a Linda from some earlier years Paul was at one time a retained fireman and didn't have a great deal of hair either !!

Does anyone rememberI wonder Susan Voyde (Susie) lived on the estate that you entered from ''The Kings Arms'' ?

Susy had a sandwich round that covered the local industrial estates in the mid to late 1980's.She was an old flame and a great girl too.She lived next to a chap called Ron Howe who was if I worked O/T was my shift manager at Nacanco the can makers next to the Coca Cola filling plant ,my own shift manager was a chap called Phil Reeves who lived on the road that went to the old water tower.

To think I held down a full time well paid job (shift work) and completed a Masters degree in Education as a O.U. student, mind you took a bit longer than most to do like about 6 years.!!

Finally,Bailco: thanks for the picture of ''The Kings Arms'' the place certainly does not seem to have changed much over the years either unlike me !!

Susan Voyde ( Did she happen to have 2 brothers as well ? ) one called richard voyde the younger brother , cant remember the name of the elder brother though, lived in avon close ?
