MK Centre Bans Goths CORRECTION Midsummer Place bans goths

word has reached the webmaster of this site that the MK centre has banned all goths from entering midsummer place. There appears to be no reason to this other than the centre MK management not approving of the clothing style of Goths.

I have emailed the MK Centre to ask for a response and if they provide one I will of course place it here

Yes, i myself have been victimized for this.
It sickens me to know that, just because we dress differently, we are subject to prejudice.

I have received the following response from The Centre MK

Dear Mr How,

Thank you for your email enquiry, we're pleased that you have contacted us about this issue so that we can clarify the situation.

thecentre:mk has not banned Goths, or any other groups of people from the building. We only ever exclude people from thecentre:mk on the basis of their inappropriate behaviour and not than the way they look or dress.

Midsummer Place shopping centre is owned and managed entirely separately to thecentre:mk and as such, we are not able to comment on any decision their management team or their retails may have made. If you wish to pursue further comment, then you can contact the Midsummer Centre Management offices directly on 01908 ******

I have now emailed midsummer place for a comment, If I get one I will post it here

so the Centre MK can respond within a few hours but midsummer place has chosen to completely ignore us, I have heard that the Goths are back in Midsummer Place and are not being turned away or threatened with £80 fines and ASBO's as they were being a few days ago.

So Midsummer Place Management if you are reading this thank you for the change in attitude but an email in reply to mine would have made you look so much more professional.

I have just been told again that if 3 or more goths are together in midsummer place they are being thrown out by security for no reason other than the fact they are in a group of 3.

I have just spoken to the duty manager of midsummer place to ask why when they actively encourage coach parties but have decided to pick on the goths.

His reply was

"it was never a formal policy and and still isnt formal policy to throw people out just for being a goth. He stated that as long as the group are well behaved and do not disrupt other peoples enjoyment of the centre then they are welcome to stay. "

So it looks like if you use the place responsibly they will welcome you.

This does of course mean that if the group becomes too large and becomes a health and safety issue then they will be asked to move on. But if you get asked to move on by security when there are only two or three of you and you are behaving then please let us know and I will call the duty manager again.
